Nyx: Gold for the Darker Half of the Year
5 min read · New Collection · Autumn Edit · Styling
There is a moment every October when the light changes. The evenings arrive before you are ready for them, the knitwear comes out of the drawer, and everything starts to glow a little warmer — candles, streetlamps, the last leaves on the trees.
That is the moment we made Nyx for. Nineteen pieces of gold for the darker half of the year: molten shapes that catch the light like candle flame, a north star you can take off and put back on, a serpent at the ear and a squiggle drawn round the wrist. Pieces that look poured rather than made.
Who was Nyx?
In Greek myth, Nyx was Night herself — mother of sleep and dreams, and the one goddess even Zeus would not cross. The other gods stepped aside for her. So this is not a collection of quiet, polite gold. It is gold made for long evenings, and for being noticed in them.
Molten gold: the Ione pieces
If autumn had a texture, it would be Ione. Every piece is shaped like gold caught mid-flow and polished to a mirror, so it throws the light differently each time you move. Ione was a sea nymph whose name means violet — the colour of the sky in the last minutes before dark. We could not think of a better name for October.

✦ Ione Nugget Earrings — £30
A domed pebble of gold that sits flat against the lobe. Light enough to forget, so you put them in and leave them in.
✦ Ione Nugget Necklace — £26
The shortest necklace in Nyx, lying flat in the hollow of the throat. Made for an open collar or the neckline of a jumper.
✦ Ione Drop Necklace — £28
A full, puffed teardrop with a single crystal low on its face. Layer it beneath the Nugget Necklace for an easy, collected look.
✦ Ione Nugget Ring — £24
The statement ring of the collection. Too bold to stack — give it a hand of its own.
Stars for the long nights
Autumn is when the night sky comes back. These pieces are named for the stars and constellations you can see on a clear, cold evening — and they are made to catch the light the way they do.
✦ Polaris Star Necklace — £28 & Polaris Star Hoops — £25
An eight-pointed north star — the old way of drawing the star sailors steered by. The charms on the hoops come off, so one pair covers the school run and the Christmas party.
✦ Vega Crystal Hoops — £33
Named after one of the first bright stars you will see on an autumn evening. If you buy one pair of hoops this season, make it these.
✦ Astra Cluster Ring — £26
Eight crystals, each set at a slightly different height. Ad astra — to the stars.
✦ Vela Lattice Ring — £30
An open cage of fine gold bars. A bold shield from across the room, something far more delicate up close.
Bold enough for a black turtleneck
Autumn dressing is knits, coats and layers — and jewellery needs real presence to hold its own against wool. These are the pieces that do.

✦ Theia Wide Cuff — £42
The boldest thing Kataleya has made: 7.5cm of textured gold, worked like beaten metal or bark, in hard-wearing PVD plating. Wear it high on the wrist with sleeves pushed back.
✦ Cassia Cross Necklace — £34
A heavy cable chain with a T-bar toggle worn at the front. Over a black turtleneck, it does all the work an outfit needs.
✦ Ophira Serpent Earrings — £28
A crystal serpent falling in a long S-curve. A snake sheds its skin and begins again — fitting for a season of letting go.
✦ Delphi Crystal Bracelet — £30 & Thalia Squiggle Cuff — £26
Stack them together, so the sparkle sits against plain gold.
Made for October weather
Autumn here means rain, so every piece in Nyx is gold plated stainless steel — waterproof, tarnish resistant and hypoallergenic. Wear it through downpours, hot showers and the walk home in the dark without a second thought. Not sure how that compares to other finishes? We explain it all in gold plated vs gold vermeil vs stainless steel.
And every ring in the collection is adjustable — no sizing to guess, which also makes them very easy to give.
Three ways to wear it
01 Every day
Ione Nugget Earrings, the Ione Nugget Necklace and your cosiest knit. Nothing to think about, nothing to take off.
02 Dinner by candlelight
The Callisto Crystal Hoops (£35), hair swept back and a bare neckline. Let the hoops do the talking.

03 The statement
The Theia Wide Cuff, a black turtleneck and nothing else at all.
Gold for the darker half of the year. Wear one. Wear six.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Nyx collection waterproof?
Yes. Every piece is gold plated stainless steel, so it can be worn in the rain, the shower and the sea. Perfume, fake tan and harsh cleaning products wear any gold finish faster, so put those on before your jewellery.
Will Nyx jewellery tarnish?
The collection is tarnish resistant and made to be worn every day. A quick wipe with a soft cloth keeps the shine at its best — our jewellery care guide has more tips.
What ring size do I need?
None — every ring in Nyx is open and adjustable, so it fits most fingers and moves easily between them.
Which Nyx piece makes the best gift?
The Polaris Star Necklace, for someone finding their way or starting again, or the Mira Eye Necklace (£30), a protective symbol made to be worn constantly. Pair either with the Delphi Crystal Bracelet for a gift set.
