What these tests actually mean for you
We know certificates can feel technical, so here’s what each test means in plain English:
Zero nickel detected
The nickel release tests showed N.D. — Not Detected — across all trials. This means no measurable nickel is released from our jewellery when it comes into contact with skin or sweat. For anyone with sensitive skin or a nickel allergy, this is the result that matters most.
Lead and cadmium free
Both heavy metals that can be harmful with prolonged skin contact. Our pieces passed both tests, meaning you’re not wearing anything that contains dangerous levels of either substance.
Salt spray tested
Salt spray testing simulates prolonged exposure to saltwater and sweat — it’s the industry standard for testing corrosion resistance and water durability in metal jewellery. Our stainless steel pieces passed this test, supporting our waterproof and tarnish-free claims.
CE marked
The CE mark confirms that our earrings, necklaces and rings meet the requirements of relevant European Directives and regulations. It’s not just a logo — it’s a legal declaration backed by independent testing documentation.

Brass, copper base metals, or any material we cannot verify. We only source from suppliers who provide independent testing documentation. If we can’t confirm what’s in it, we don’t sell it. |
Caring for your Kataleya jewellery
Our pieces are designed to be worn every day — and they are built to last. However, to keep them looking their best for as long as possible, we recommend:
